Looming ever nearer

countdown: 4 days

Passport with enclosed visa arrived safely by mail last week. I still have yet to buy new luggage and accordingly have yet to start to pack. Somehow I'm not too worried.

My laptop breaking may in fact have been a good thing. I now have a very small and light netbook, (from whence I am now writing,) perfect for travel.


Today I went skiing. Surrounded by snow, burried in layers to endure the unfriendly temperature of 10 degrees, I could not help but imagine where I would be in exactly a week. Likely on the beach, or at least near-by. In a swimming suit or something beachy. Toasty and warm in the 80 degree tropical climate.

Also it would be about one in the morning. So maybe the beach scenario isn't entirely accurate. But you get the idea. It's this difficult-to-process change that's making it hard to believe I'm jetting off to the other side of the globe for five months in less than four days. All the same. I will be.
